Jay's Journey Back

My Forever Place Online

I’ll Take a 25 Piece Bucket List To Go

October31

The Grand Canyon

When I was younger I never really put much thought into what I wanted to do before I died. I guess I never really thought about death and dying and leaving this place without doing certain things at all. I mean, I was going to live forever and everything was going to come to me – not the other way around. But now that I have entered the 4th decade of my life, there are several places I haven’t seen and things I haven’t done – and I really want to. I’m sure I can make a huge list but I think these are the top 25 items on my ‘Bucket List’ – in no particular order mind you – but they all are very important to me and I hope to start crossing them off this year.

  • Eat a Nathan’s hot dog in Coney Island
  • Travel to Munich for Oktoberfest
  • Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland
  • Watch the sunrise in New York and the sunset in California in the same day
  • Attend a Green Bay Packer’s Game at Lambeau Field
  • Watch a baseball game in every MLB ballpark
  • Go Camping in Yellowstone National Park
  • Swim in the Pacific Ocean
  • Go to a Dallas Cowboy’s Game in Dallas
  • Buy Dallas Cowboy Season Tickets
  • Have an article published in a national magazine or newspaper
  • Live an entire summer in Wildwood, NJ
  • Swim with Great White sharks from inside a shark cage
  • Cruise to Alaska
  • Visit Paris
  • Take a train cross country
  • Pan for Gold
  • Eat a Chicago pizza in Chicago
  • Visit Las Vegas
  • See the Grand Canyon
  • Sell a screenplay
  • Buy every sports rookie card of significance from 1950′s on
  • Go to a Super Bowl
  • Go to a World Series game in Yankee Stadium
  • Learn to play piano

That’s it for now. I think it’s a pretty simple list and I think many of them are well within reach. As I cross certain things off, I hope I can add to the list – I never want to stop dreaming or wishing…it’s what makes life worth living. What’s on your personal ‘Bucket List’?

14 Days of Ballads Countdown to Valentine’s Day 2012

September26

Top Rock Ballads

Growing up in the 80′s and more specifically being in High School at the end of the 80′s I consider myself lucky to have the best music for the hopeless romantic in me. The 80′s hair bands gave us such great music to dedicate to that special someone and more importantly, it gave us beautiful music to cope with break-ups. Being a  headbanger made it impossible to show true emotions but because the words were being sung by guys in spandex, high hair and more make-up than your sister; it was OK.

So as February started and the countdown to valentine’s Day 2012 started, I thought what better way to highlight those songs that had all the cool kids lip syncing into a beer bottles on weekend nights throughout their lost teen years. I picked one for each day leading up to February 14. I’m sure my list will differ from others but I’m confident that all would at least make the list 9 out of 10 times. And before anyone mentions it – some of the songs were post 80′s but not by much.
